Manas Deb – Conservative Candidate for Queen Edith’s Ward Cambridge

In the run up to the May 2016 Cambridge City Council elections the Conservative candidate for Queen Edith’s ward, Manas Deb, invited me to talk to him about his candidature.

Manas Deb is a local resident of Queen Edith’s who has lived in Cambridge for about fifteen years. He sees himself as a local activist, is president of the Cambridge’s Indian Cultural Society, and runs a Leicester based company offering ink and printing supplies. Manas Deb told me he has been a member of the Conservatives for about a year and the local party asked him to stand.

Cambridge currently has just one Conservative councillor, in Trumpington, and in many wards the Conservatives appear inactive with just a couple of sentences, if that, describing their local council candidates.

Manas Deb in Queen Ediths has a Twitter account, Facebook page and website promoting his manifesto.

My impression is that Manas Deb is a serious candidate basing his campaign on local issues of car parking, particularly associated with Addenbrookes’ hospital and on twenty mile an hour speed limits outside schools.

I’ve published the following videos of our discussion:
