Using the opportunity for the public to ask questions at the Chisholm Trail and New Bridge Greater Cambridge Partnership Forum 12 July 2017 I:

• Got a commitment from the Greater Cambridge Partnership to consider formally permitting cycling on the new “Chisholm Trail” paths across Coldhams Common and Ditton Meadows. (Currently the plans are for the paths to be footpaths, on which there will be no formal right to cycle.)
• Obtained clarification that the proposal is to replace the grass riverbank next to the hailingway by the new bridge with a concrete (or similar) hard edge. (I expressed my dismay at this).
• Raised the question of safety, particularly in the winter, and suggested consideration of electrical de-icing, ant-slip surfacing and a riverside railing continue and asked that the safety audit reports be brought to future forum meetings. (The safety audit should cover other matters of interest such as signage, lining and surfacing of adjacent roads.)

The meeting also heard that as part of the next phase of the Chisholm Trail widening Mill Road bridge is being considered alongside the possibility of a new bridge across the railway near the Mill Road bridge.

There were further progress updates on the projects.
