<description>&lt;a href="http://www.rtaylor.co.uk/policing-west-and-central-cambridge-january-2009.html" rel="nofollow"&gt;I raised the concerns in the above article at the West Central Area Committee in January 2009&lt;/a&gt;.

Inspector Kerridge, who was present on behalf of the police did not to address them. He said they were a matter of national policy, he promised to pass them on to someone else to comment on but I have not yet heard anything almost a year later.

Now it has been reported that the police in Cambridge are to start wearing cameras again. It has been reported this is following the success of last year's trial. The police did not mention their plans to do this at the area committee meetings where they consult with the public and councillors.

The current plans include giving the cameras to PCSOs

I want to find out what, if any, rules and safeguards are to be applied to the police's use of these cameras. Will the police announce they are recording, will disciplinary action follow if an officer turns away and fails to record police misbehaviour? Will cameras be taken off the police enter people's homes or knock on their doors?

In other forces details of safeguards and guidance has been published prior to trials. In Cambridge this has not happened, either prior to the trial, or now prior to the expanded deployment of cameras.</description>
