Congratulations are due to Boudoir Femme for winning two awards in the inaugural Love Cambridge Charter Awards on Tuesday night.

Obviously it is a coincidence its owner (with his wife) is Ian Sandison, chairman of Love Cambridge.

Mr Sandison has replied to me, letting me know some more about his background, and he appears well qualified for the role.

. I do as you state have various business interests and these include business consultancy and medical device recruitment.

I also have a retail interest as well, My wife and I have a shop on King Street, Boudoir Femme Ltd, we have been trading their since July 2006, I have also established and chair a very active King Street Traders Association, this has resulted in a number of improvements to the street including Xmas lights for the first time in 2007 and these have been improved upon this year also. I have been an active member of a City Centre Management committee this year which put together the Cambridge at Xmas programme, including the parade and Xmas lights events and I have been an attendee at the Cambridge Retail and Commercial Group CRACA over the past year.
I am also a resident of Cambridge. living just of Mill Road thus I am able to represent this view also.

It would have been good if that kind of "biography" statement had been reported to councillors.

I have learnt that there will now be a seat on the board for an someone who can represent resident's interests and that the prospective Chair of the Cambridge City Centre Partnership Board is Ian Sandison.

At the 17th November Strategy and Resources Scrutiny meeting councillors were told the chair of the new city centre partnership board would be an "independent retailer". Looking up "Ian Sandison", there appears to be only one and he's in the medical device sales and sales person recruitment business. Not the kind of business which first comes to mind when a city centre independent retailer is mentioned. Perhaps he has an interest in a retail business? (I realise quick online research has its limitations)

Without being pessimistic, it will be interesting to see the details of how this organisation is structured, as one day the chances are it will have to be dissolved and it might well hold public money / money intended for the public good; it would be wrong to see that distributed among the members.
